My story
Hi!
I’m Tina. I live in Sardinia (Italy) but I was born and grew up in the UK to an English mother and Italian father. So I consider myself a dual national.
I have been teaching for more than 25 years as I gained the RSA/CAMBRIDGE CTEFLA qualification in 1993. Additionally I hold a BSc (Honours) in International Studies.
In addition to teaching I have a varied work experience. This includes carrying out translations of a variety of sorts from Italian to English and working within the sectors of aviation, tourism and customer service.
Most of my students are Italian, however I have experience teaching in other countries too.
In fact I spent some time in Sri Lanka where I taught children in a local orphanage. Moreover I lived a year in China where I not only taught but also worked as a Teacher trainer in a Teaching college. Furthermore I visited schools in rural parts of the country to train the English teachers.
In addition to giving private lessons, I’m currently teaching in nursery and primary schools. I’m also running the “English coffee” initiative, which allows anyone to join me in an entertaining English conversation class.
My value
For me, teaching is not just a job, it is a vocation that brings me immense joy and satisfaction. I consider myself fortunate to be able to share that passion with my students.
Since I believe that every student has the potential to succeed, I strive to create a supportive and inclusive learning environment that encourages them to do their best. My commitment is to helping them to discover and develop their own unique strengths and talents.
In fact, one of the things I love most about teaching English is the way it fosters critical thinking and creativity. Through discussion and writing my students are able to develop their own perspectives and ideas. I find it incredibly rewarding to see them grow and flourish achieving their goals and realizing their full potential.
My passions
I’m an avid cyclist and love to explore on my bike. As I live alongside some beautiful coastlines here in the South of Sardinia, cycling is a perfect way to experience the magic of this island. In addition to bike riding, I often go running and walking in the countryside. When the summer hits, as the beach is just down the road from where I live, going for a swim in the sea is another one of my pastimes. I get to do this for about 4 or 5 months a year.
My interests are varied, travel being a real passion of mine. I have been fortunate enough to be able to visit different parts of the globe and experience so many of the fantastic cultures we have on this planet. I love meeting people from all walks of life.
Furthermore, I love reading ,both fact and fiction, watching a good movie or TV series of all genres and listening to a mix of music depending on my mood I guess.
Moreover, I have recently taken up writing fiction which is a wonderful way to transmit your imagination and fantasy. Overall, I believe our imagination is the soul opening a doorway and offering you the chance to step through it. So, If you get your mind and heart in alignment, wonderful things can be created and happen.
Never stop learning!
